Adjectives

Adjectives precede nouns and are completely invariant.

They do not change for:

  • number
  • definiteness
  • possession
  • gender
  • syntactic position

Examples:

  • redd hus — a red house
  • redd husar — red houses
  • redd husen — the red house
  • redd husaren — the red houses

Predicative adjectives

The same adjective form is used after the copula.

husen ett redd

The house is red.

Multiple adjectives

Multiple adjectives may appear in any order.

The adjective closest to the noun is understood as the most tightly associated quality.

No rigid English-style adjective-order hierarchy is required.
